I remember asking him for permission to record this show but also remember that he did not give it to me. So with a small bit of guilt I borrowed my friend John’s recording gear and snuck it into the Whiskey anyhow. Set up in stealth at a table about 15 feet from the stage. Lucky for us that we were not discovered. The Captain was not fond of being captured live by amateur recorders and was known to make a big scene when he discovered someone doing this. I sort of remember placing the microphones on the table and covering them with a jacket and this would be the source of the ruffling noises that can be heard during the quiet parts between songs. Some of the worst of this ruffling noise was after the first song. Some editing was done to remove this noise and to splice together the tape flip and then blend the audience sections back together to make a seamless transition. Also employed the NERO wave editor to remove the loudest explosive clapping by deleting one clap at a time.
